Frequently asked questions

If your question is not here, email us at hello@innerverseapp.com and a person will answer.

What is InnerVerse?

A private AI coach that lives on your phone or computer. You bring whatever is actually on your mind. Your coach listens, reflects back what it hears, and challenges you where that helps. Sessions build on each other, so your coach remembers what matters to you instead of starting from zero every time.

How is it different from ChatGPT or another AI chatbot?

Most chatbots are built to be agreeable and to answer questions. InnerVerse is built to coach. It listens more than it explains, asks more than it answers, and it will challenge you, kindly, rather than simply agree with you. Continuity is the whole point: your coach carries what you worked on last week into today's conversation, because growth does not restart every time you open an app. There is a longer comparison here, including where ChatGPT is the better tool.

What method is the coaching based on?

A written one, and you can read all of it. In short: your coach reads how you are arriving before deciding how deep to go, treats the patterns you bring as protection rather than problems to attack, and builds capacity through small steps instead of chasing insights or breakthroughs. It draws on five research traditions, including Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, and Focusing. The full account is on the method page.

Can I use InnerVerse for journaling?

Yes. InnerVerse includes a private journal for the thoughts you want to keep but not necessarily discuss. Write an entry by typing or by speaking it. Entries stay yours alone: your coach reads one only if you choose to bring it into a session. You can also save something from a session back into your journal. If journaling is mostly what you want, that works on its own; the coaching is there when you want to take an entry further.

Is InnerVerse therapy?

No, and we want to be clear about that. InnerVerse provides AI-generated coaching content for personal growth and self-reflection. It is not a substitute for professional therapy, medical treatment, or legal advice. Coaching content is generated by artificial intelligence and can be inaccurate, incomplete, or wrong; do not rely on it as fact. You are responsible for how you choose to act on anything you discuss during a session.

Does my coach remember me between sessions?

Yes, and that is the heart of it. Your coach keeps notes on the lasting things you share: the people who matter to you, what you are working on, and the ground you have already covered together. You can read everything it remembers in Settings, and remove anything you would rather it forget.

Can I talk to my coach out loud?

Yes. You can speak instead of typing, and your coach can speak back. Switch between talking and typing whenever you like, at any point in a session. Some people simply think better out loud.

What if the coaching style does not fit me?

Tell it. After each session you can say how the coaching felt, and your coach adjusts: warmer, more direct, a gentler pace. One thing it will never do is stop coaching. Your feedback shapes how your coach challenges you, not whether it shows up for you.

What does it cost?

InnerVerse is free while we build it. If you are among the first 100 people to join, it stays free for the entire development phase, and we have not put an end date on that. When a paid plan eventually arrives, it will open with a free week. We have not set a price yet, because we want real usage and real costs in front of us before we ask anyone to pay.

Is there a limit to how much I can use it?

Yes, 100 messages to your coach per day, resetting at midnight your local time. Most people never come close to it. The limit exists because every conversation has a real computing cost, and one very heavy day should not shorten the free period for everyone. You will see a counter as you approach it, and your coach wraps the conversation up properly rather than cutting you off mid-sentence.

How do I sign in?

With your email address and a password, or with your Google account if you prefer. When you first sign up we email you a short code to confirm your address.

Do I need to download it from an app store?

No app store needed. InnerVerse installs straight from your browser to your home screen, on iPhone, Android, Mac, and Windows. The install instructions walk through it for each device.

Who can use InnerVerse?

You need to be 16 or older. InnerVerse currently speaks English and Italian, both in the app and in your coaching.

What happens to what I write?

It stays yours. Everything is encrypted in transit and at rest, including our backups. We store your sessions so your coach can remember you, and we send them to OpenAI to generate your coach's replies. We do not sell them and we do not use them for advertising. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.

Can I export my sessions?

Yes. Any session can be downloaded from the app as a Word document, plain text, Markdown, or a web page, so your words are never locked in.

Can I delete my data?

Yes, and you never have to ask us. Delete a single session, remove anything your coach remembers, delete a journal entry, or delete your whole account and everything in it. All of it is in Settings, in your hands.

What if I am going through a crisis?

InnerVerse is not an emergency service, and no app is a substitute for one. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number. In the US you can call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Elsewhere, findahelpline.com lists services in your country. Your coach is built to recognize when something needs more support than coaching can give, and to point you toward real human help rather than carry on with the session.
